Dream about spiders that I really don't understand was created by fluffyquail
Recently, I had a dream that's been troubling me; I couldn't understand it just by thinking about it, and I couldn't make sense of it from looking in the dream dictionary either, so I thought I would make an account and ask about it here.
I'm really at a loss for what it could be about, but I'll try to give some background information: friendship is really important to me, and I have a lot of close friends whom I love dearly. I thought of my friends in the dream, but one particular friend actually showed up toward the end of the dream: he's someone I've met pretty recently, but the circumstances of us meeting were... trying, to say the least, so I would say that we've already been through a lot together and are close friends. He has a kind, gentle personality and is usually very forgiving. I'm also kind of surprised I had a nightmare when I did, considering that I'd solved a problem that had really been bothering me that day, and I was feeling really happy when I went to sleep.
In the beginning of the dream (or at least what I remember of it), I bought a big bag of tea (it was green tea with different colours of flower petals, although I drink a tea like that a lot so I'm not sure how relevant that is). When I took it home, I opened the bag to see that it had turned into a really small tree, around the size of a potted plant, so I took it out of the bag and set it down on a table.
I noticed that there was a big spider carrying a huge egg sac; now normally I would have carefully taken the spider outside, since I avoid killing bugs whenever I can. But in the dream, somehow I knew that I needed to kill it. I thought that, even though it was probably for the best, if my friends saw it they would be scared and think of me as a killer, so I prayed that they would not know. (Which is also sort of strange, considering that most people don't make much of a fuss over killing spiders.) I threw the spider on the ground and was horrified by the site of its corpse and all of the smashed eggs lying around it--but I looked at the tree and saw that it was full of almost identical spiders carrying huge egg sacs, so I started to reach for them to kill them, too.
I glanced away from the tree for a second and noticed the friend I mentioned earlier standing nearby. He looked pale and frightened, and he seemed as though he was going to run away from me at any second.
After that, I woke up, shaking.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me to understand this dream, since I'm really worried about it...

Spiders in dreams can be a result of a psychological or physiological issue in your waking life as explained in definition on this site: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/spider.html
Based on the elements of the dream and the waking life background that you provided, the spider in your dream seem to represent a creepy person in your life,,, and the little "eggs" that he/she laid in your life. When symbols in dreams are unusually large, it reflects how "big" of an issue it is in your waking life. Here's a link to the definition of eggs in a dream on this site: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/egg.html Killing in a dream is a metaphor for wanting to make something go away in your waking life. Here's a link to its definition: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/killing.html As for the tree in the dream... here's a link to it's meaning in dreams: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/tree.html
The good news is that this dream reflects your confidence that you can dispense with the creepy people and their little "creations" in your waking life. Your dream starts with a growing tree, a symbol of spiritual growth and desires that may relate to your family or hopes for one. That's where you were before the "spider" showed up.
You didn't provide much detail about the recent "trying" circumstances that you and your friend endured, but the spider in your dream may relate to it. If not, the presence of your friend does suggest that the dreams is about your social life and friendships or acquaintances.
Remember... dreams are expressions of your feelings about your waking life. Also, feelings in dreams are never disguised, so how you felt IN your dream is how you feel about its subject in your waking life. The fact that your friend looked "pale and frightened" and ready to bolt, reflects how you feel he might feel and/or react to the metaphorical spider-and-eggs-killer in you. Based on his reaction, you may have some concern about what this creepy person has brought out in you and how that may be perceived by that friend (and others?)
Knowing the meaning of the dream, you can make more informed decisions about what to do and who you want to be.
Hope that helps! Good luck!
