Your dream sounds like a simple "anxiety dream"; you learned as a young girl that high heels are hard to walk in, and ever since then you have, appropriately, been wary of them. You know that the slightest mis-step can cause you to twist an ankle or fall.

I would hesitate to read much more into the dream than this. For example, I don't believe "tripping on the church steps" has deep symbolic meaning. I believe the church is in your dream because, as youngsters, going to church was the one time each week that we had to dress up. I had to try to find one of my older brother's sports coats that fit me, and try to tie a decent knot in a tie, and you had to put on your Sunday dress and learn how to walk in those crazy high heels!
