Confusing message was created by Kelly
In reality, during the time of this unusual dream - it was windy outside, dark/bedtime - and I had 2 windows open for the cool breeze to come in...
In the dream it is windy, the grass is green and I am accompanied by someone. (Also, the evening of this dream I have on my mind - in a real sense - the paranoia of windows open, and am listening for any subtle noises of burglers coming into the house).
Anyhow, I see a rod, made of metal and black rubber be thrown into my yard. It has a big white ribbon tied to it as a bow. Also I note in my backyard that I have a wooden statue of a man, who seems to be a garden ornament, who has had a wooden axe thrown right in the center of his head/eyes. This startles me.
Then I walk around the backyard paranoid there has been a robbery. I head for the garage and find a room filled with empty bird cages. Again I wonder what on earth is this?? In the following room I see all the birds, budgies mostly, content sharing an animal house together. They had been released from their cages.
However, the person who is accompanying me in this dream is looking at the rod with the white bow. He tells me I need to throw the rod onto the wooden man who sits as an ornament in my backyard, with the axe between his eyes. As a quick response, and with fright, I pick up the rod and throw it instead over the fence and away from my house.
To list some issues that have been on my mind.
I had met a new man, briefly, who I am interested in, yet I don't know what he really thinks and whether a possible new relationship may or may not start...
Second issue, some work stress - and pressure to make sales.
What do you think the message of this dream was for me? I would appreciate any feedback.

Your dream reflects a leeriness, in general, about someone entering your property (home, garage, back yard..). In other words, it is a dream about boundries. This could indeed be related to fears and doubts about engaging in a new relationship. Here is some food for thought:
The rod thrown in your back yard - with a white ribbon suggesting it is a gift - could be phallic. A sexual offering from the new man?
The totem of a man with a hatchet in his head? Possibly an emblem that you have aleady decided to "kill" this new relationship, out of fear of being "robbed" emotionally?
The birds that have escaped from their cages? Love wanting to be set free.
The budgies living happily in the "animal house" love wanting to live comfortably together under one roof.
Your friend (male) advises giving the rod to the totem. Allowing him his sexuality as a normal part of relations?
But in fear, you throw it back where it came from - away from your house.
Does it make sense? If so, you may wish to settle yourself down to the long journey from betrayal back to trust. If you have been hurt before in a relationship - you need to learn to trust again. Otherwise the betrayal has beaten you - and won. Remember, the gift of betrayal is that it liberates us from naivete.

Thank you so much for your interpretation of this dream. You had it in your first sentence when you mentioned one of the choices meant "going alone". That really hit pay dirt with me. Even though I was feeling the need to unburden myself of these problems, the prospect of "going alone" held me back. But in the dream, going alone at least meant there might be a brighter future. Settling in the "cabin" would have no real future, as the wall implies.
I can't thank you enough.

Windy/dark: Sorrows, ignorance, misguided.
Staff (Rod; Wand; Scepter; Stick) In a dream, a staff represents authority, power, distinctive, strong, generous and a helpful person.
Metal: The metal symbolizes a courageous boy.
Colors White in a dream also means beauty or it could represent elderly people.
Bow: High spiritual status, honor, the Holy prophet, God/mankind. Noble man.
Wood statue: Symbolizes religious hypocrisy or hypocritical people in general, especially dry wood
Hatchet The hatchet symbolizes a strong and courageous man. He is perspicacious in both easy and difficult matters. He discriminates between things and is trenchant in disputes. A hatchet being waved at the dreamer means he will lead a scattered life in various countries.
Cage (Cradle; House; Prison) In a dream, a cage represents a prison, a cradle or a house. Entering one's head into a cage while walking in the markets in a dream means selling one's house. A cage in a dream also signifies complications. Seeing a cage inside a courthouse in a dream means marriage.
Bird: Bird in a dream means a warning, an advice or an admonition.
The meaning of your dream is the person you have met by appearance looks attracting but he is not entirely as he seems. A hypocritical nature. You will internally receive warning sings and hints that he is not the match. You will realize this and will throw away this relationship.
