I basically never remember any dreams, but it's been happening a lot lately...

Anyone got any ideas what might be going on with this one:

I was on a boat with a woman (not my wife) who I was romantically involved with, but I didn't recognise her (after waking). We were journeying somewhere with another couple who I knew, but also didn't recognise. The boat was familiar to me, as was the journey - I had done it before, but couldn't place where or when.

We were putting our gear in our rooms and deciding who would stay where.

We found the boat's skipper in in the helm and he had a golden retriever dog next to him. I knew him (but again, didn't recognise him), we chatted about the journey and recounted stories of past adventures.

    I was happy.

My partner (the woman I knew, but didn't recognise) and I were in our cabin and began to kiss. At that point I woke up and couldn't sleep for the rest of the night.

There are a number of common dream symbols in your dream, the meanings of which should help you pinpoint what was going on in your life that generated it. Here are links to their definitions:

    boat: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/boat.html
    unknown lover: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/lover-unknown.html
    journey: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/journey.html
    driver (variation of skipper): dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/driver.html
    dog: dreamdoctor.com/dream-dictionary/definitions/dog.html

Without knowing what was going on in your waking life at the time of the dream, it's hard to say what caused you to have the dream. However, your dream seems to express your desire for a stronger emotional/romantic connection in your waking life for the "journey" you are on. Given the presence of another couple, a skipper and the dog, the dream may relate to your social life, involving friends & family.

    Hope this helps!
