I can always get out of dreams, why? was created by crashcloser
I have spoken to many people about this and I can't remember how I figured this out in a dream and why it works. But I would love some answers if anyone has any. Also if anyone experiences anything similar to what I do then please let me know! I have found no one as of yet that has experienced something like this.
Firstly, let me start by defining three types of dreams (from my experience):
1. A Normal Dream - this is where I have a normal dream (usually a good dream) and I wake up for whatever reason.
2. A Controlled/Bad Dream - this is where I have a dream (usually a bad dream, but not a nightmare) and I can get myself out of the dream and wake myself up (I'll explain how I do this in a second)
3. A Nightmare - this is where I cannot get myself out of the dream (this is usually because of a condition in the dream which stops me) and someone either has to wake me up or I wake myself up because I make noises in my dream.
I'll explain further.
Say I am having a dream and something bad is about to happen, for example I'm going to get stabbed, in my dream I think to myself "is this a dream or is this real?". Usually, I realise it is a dream and tell myself I can get out of it. To get out of the dream, I do three backwards flips and then the dream fades out, everything goes black and I feel myself starting to wake up - I call this a controlled/bad dream. The first recollection I have of doing this was when I was a child, maybe 9/10 years old. I was in water and I was in a fight scene and someone was about to stab me and I decided to do three backwards rolls in the water and I woke up. Ever since, when I have a dream and something bad is going to happen, I always do the three backwards flips and wake up.
Sometimes, I can control what I do in dreams and when I'm having a good dream I can make decisions within it. Usually I never control myself to get out of the dream and I wake up normally, so I wouldn't really call this a controlled dream.
However, when I have a nightmare, I am usually constrained within it and so I cannot do three backwards flips. My nightmares usually consist of me being restrained in bed with fear. Something paranormal is happening in my room and I don't dare to move within the nightmare. Note that I find it strange I am fearing something paranormal because I love watching horror movies, in particular paranormal ones. Usually, the only thing I can do in the nightmare is make a noise, its a bit like a groaning noise, but when I am doing it in my nightmare, I am also doing it whilst asleep. I'll either wake up because someone hears the noise and wakes me up or I wake myself up because I am groaning loudly.
Once, when having a nightmare I had sleep paralysis, whereby I was groaning whilst my nightmare was occurring and then all of a sudden the nightmare faded and went black, and I could not move my body or speak, all I could do was make the groaning noise and my boyfriend at the time was saying my name and trying to wake me. I drifted in and out of the nightmare a few times before my boyfriend managed to wake me up.
I tell many people about this because they find it strange and don't know anyone who has experienced something similar. I was just wondering if anyone has any insight on this? Thanks

Hi,
The first thing that came to my mind while reading your post, was a story out of a book written by Frank deMarco. He's an old student of Robert Monroe. He and a lady, Rita Warren, wrote a book, "The Sphere and the Hologram" where he channeled and she asked questions. She died, and then he wrote two books with her. In their last book, she was telling him about the stages of death.
The part I was thinking of, was he was out of his body, looking at this universe, thinking how good it was to see it. Then the universe started to move and he realized he was in this hall he knew where people were taking down a set! He realized the message was, you're here in this reality to learn, so stay focussed here.
That's the thought that came to me while reading your post. So, what does it mean?
We literally create our dreams. The fact you can "escape" your bad dream is neither good nor bad nor right nor wrong. It simply is what it is. However, like Frank, you are escaping facing yourself. The "bad dream" is there for a reason.
If i was you, and I'm not, i would do the following:
* Take great comfort in the fact you now realize you can control some aspects of your dreaming and have out of body, lucid dreams. This is a major achievement..
* It's time to face the "music of your dreams!" Knowing your dreams can no longer hurt you, it's time to understand why you are having the dream in the first place.
* Everything in a dream scene is there for a symbolic reason. The water, other people, others trying to kill you, etc.
* If it was my dream experience, I would turn to the person trying to kill me and open myself up.
* A long time ago I used to have recurring dreams where people were trying to kill me. i then realized, through deep meditation, I had died vey scared in several other lives. It took me a while to digest this. Then I had a teary ceremony with me, myself and I where I forgave my killers. A spiritual weight went off my shoulders. The dreams of me running away ceased.
* Then I realized i had killed others. In some lives, very badly. This too took me a long time to accept. When I did, another spiritual weight went off my shoulders
It's your life, your path and you are the captain of your own ship. All I can do is tell you of my own experiences.
i hope some of what I've said below resonates within you.
