Glass

Dreams of looking through glass reflect feelings of how well one can see what is on the other side, whether it be a person, relationship or what’s coming, as in the future. Glass that is dark, cloudy or distorted reflects feelings of difficulty seeing or understanding what’s on the other side. 

Glass shattering or shattered in dreams actually is a fairly common symbol for the absence of consciousness.  It's a metaphor for our perception of our life or an aspect of it being shattered. The reason for this is that, like consciousness, glass allows us to see our own reflection. Shattered or broken glass also can reflect feelings that our ability to see clearly is impaired, frequently as a result of addiction.
