Fire

Symbol of urgency and transition, demanding of attention. When something burns, it changes from one state to another. If a parent dreams her child is caught in a fire, for example, she may be concerned about a new stage of growth she is witnessing. Fire also can be a symbol of passion and creation, as in "a smoldering fire."  When an item related to communication catches on fire in a dream, it often reflects feelings that some news or information has or will "catch on fire" or "spread like wildfire."

An edifice on fire represents a burning issue or threat to what that edifice represents to you. For example, a family house on fire reflects concerns about a burning issue or threat to the family home; a burning office building similarly represents a burning issue or threat at your job or to your career. A "dream house" on fire represents concerns about a burning issue or threat in a romantic relationship that would have made the "dream house" possible.
