I wake up in the middle of the night believing I am choking. I usually sit up in bed, jump out of bed, and have even found myself on my hands and knees on the floor. It usually takes me a few minutes to realize that I am not really choking, but it seems quite violent.
I don’t “choke” on anything in particular. It can be keys, ice cubes or other things that I can’t remember. I have been having these dreams for about 2 years. I seem to have them about 2-3 times a month.
I am a 27 year old female currently living with my boyfriend. I have been divorced from my High School Sweetheart for 3 years. Our relationship ended with him having an affair.
Most people would take the easy way and say it has something to do with the divorce, but I really have no feeling or thought on the subject anymore. I have put it in the past and have written it off as a learning experience. I work in a creative field as a Graphic Designer and feel that there is very little stress involved.
I would appreciate any insight you have on my reoccurring dreams of choking.
