Many years ago I raised small birds, finches and canaries. Once in a while, I dream that I’ve returned to some house and suddenly I realize that I’ve forgotten about all these birds. They haven’t been fed or anything. I have a deep sense of guilt as I approach the cages, expecting to find mouldering piles of feathers. I usually find seed cups with only husks in them and dirty cages, but the birds are usually alive somehow, although they stare at me with accusing, beady little eyes. What could this mean?
