Hi Anonymous -
Both these animals appear to be holding on to their mommy - and they don't want to let you go!
Horses (for fairly visible reasons) are frequent symbols of virility in dreams. Snakes in dreams, especially when they remind you of the snakes that crawl up the caduceus of the medical profession - are archetypal symbols of the life force - potent images of growth and healing.
Your unplanned pregnancy naturally has caught you by surprise. You weren't expecting to be fertile right now (or for your husband to be so virile...), yet it appears you may be headed for another ride on the motherhood express!
The book you are trying to feed the horse most likely represents reason and rationality. After all, you had your tubes tied! You can't possibly be pregnant! Or can you be? (Try explaining that to a horse suckling your arm!)
Our next clue to the meaning of the horse is its metamorphosis into a snake. In ancient Greece and India, snakes were considered the most fortunate of all dream symbols - archetypal expressions of the life force, and harbingers of health, growth and wisdom.
In your dream you wrestle gently with these symbols, just as in waking life you are wrestling with the mixed emotions which your possible pregnancy has caused you. Your association between the snake and the medical insignia (and with your doctor's office - where you will be visiting soon) confirms the ancient's belief that the snake represents the life force inside you - your child.

By the time you read this dream interpretation, you will already know whether you are, indeed, a proud expecting mother. If you are, we congratulate you. Although your dream suggests that you and your husband anticipate raising another child as an "uphill walk" (what parent would disagree?) you have to be impressed with this child's determination to come into the world. Judging by your dream, he or she will have the strength of ten horses!
