mouth like sandpaper

This is a recurring nightmare:

I am running… as fast as I can… up hill… there is a ball… as I near it (I want or need that ball) an arm comes in from nowhere and picks the ball up and throws it further up the hill… I run faster and harder… but always the arm… the throw… and me running.

When I am in the dream the roof of my mouth feels gritty like sandpaper. When I wake I am sweating and out of breath and feel as if I haven’t slept.
