Dear friends of the Dream Doctor,
So many of you have written letters of support since the announcement of my diagnosis of ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, on August 3, 2006. My family and I deeply appreciated each and every letter. Mothers and children who listened together on car rides home wrote to tell me I was missed and sent their best wishes; many others informed me I had been added to prayer lists at their houses of worship. Every letter warmed my heart and also made me miss my job - spending my evenings with you, sharing dreams and the honest and intimate life stones they always tell - all the more.
Like all PALS (people with ALS), I recognize that ALS is an incurable and always fatal disease with a life expectancy of 3-5 years. However, I continue to fight. For an update on my efforts to combat the disease, click here.
In addition to spending time with family and friends, I also began spending my days with you, my listeners and future listeners, as I undertook the task of organizing the over 14,000 dream interviews I had recorded in my 6 years on the radio. What a treasure trove of sharing and learning! I also organized hundreds of hours of 'monologues' – those opportunities I had to speak directly to you about important principles and guidelines for understanding dreams – into an unprecedented on-line course on dreams. With the help of a brilliant and extremely creative friend, the idea also was hatched to create a computerized system that could search the entire database of 14,000 dreams and locate the most relevant dreams and symbols that would enable Dream Doctor users to understand their own dreams. In other words, a dreamer could answer just a few key questions about his or her dream and then, instantly, receive an audio sampling of similar dreams, with interpretations, in addition to in-depth explanations of the symbols included in their dream. Sound far-fetched? Sound too good to be true? I invite you to try the 'Dream Wizard' – the web's most accurate and informed dream interpretation service, based on the world's largest database of dreams - for free when you join our website.
About the new website: thousands of pages of information about dreams and sleep disorders are still available for free. What's new are the two premium sections, the already mentioned Dream Wizard (in the final stages of development) and a brand new subscription area, which gives you access to all of the new audio content. Among other things, the subscription area contains the valuable dream lessons, the greatly expanded talking dream dictionary, and the symbols in-depth library – all essential resources for serious students of dreams.
With the resources provided in this new website, my goal for you is to become your own Dream Doctor. What this means, speaking broadly, is that you learn to recall your dreams everyday, you know the questions you should ask of every dream, you have a working knowledge of at least one hundred basic symbols and their common modifiers, and you are able to routinely draw the connection between your dreams and the events in your waking life to which they are inextricably related. Eventually, with time, you will learn to trust the wisdom and insights they reveal as consistent and reliable communications from your extraordinary subconscious mind., and you will arrive at this simple truth; your dreams are you talking to you. How exciting to make contact, learn the language, and develop a consistent working relationship with your inner voice.
